The Marine Mammal Center, located adjacent to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area just north of San Francisco, offers a free bi-monthly series, Marine Science Sundays – this educational program is held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, providing a fun-filled day of family-friendly tours, classroom activities and more, each month will be centered around a new theme each month.
The Marine Mammal Center recognizes human interdependence with marine mammals and their importance as sentinels of the ocean environment, the health of which is essential for all life. Through rescue and humane treatment of ill, injured, or orphaned marine mammals, to return healthy animals to the wild.
The Marine Mammal Center works, through education and communication, to increase appreciation of marine mammals, foster informed decision-making affecting them, and inspire action to protect the marine environment.
